According to the US News & World Report, South Dakota School of Mines and Technology is ranked for one of the best undergraduate computer science programs in the nation.

Computer Science and Engineering

Computers play a role in nearly every aspect of modern life. With a degree in computer science or computer engineering from South Dakota Mines, our students will launch into exciting careers that can change the world.

Students studying computer engineering at South Dakota Mines learn to work with computer components and computer systems, managing the interaction between hardware and software. As professional computer engineers, they might design computers, develop mobile technology or work with robots and artificial intelligence.

Students studying computer science at South Dakota Mines learn to use the language of computers – called code – to program computers to take a specific action. They will learn to program software, create mobile apps, develop websites and secure information. As professional computer scientists, they might work as computer programmers, web developers, database administrators or information security analysts.
